Skating Treadmill
Training Buffalo NY
The AK Hockey Skatemill is the only one of its kind in the Buffalo area. It's the same system used to develop NHL players — now available for youth through professional athletes in Northern Erie County.

What Is the Skatemill?
The AK Hockey Skatemill is the world's largest skating treadmill — an 8 ft × 8 ft platform that lets players skate at full speed, forward and backward, with incline capability. It's engineered for serious mechanics work, not just conditioning.
The treadmill mirrors the feel of ice skating and allows for high-repetition, focused technique training that's difficult to replicate in a normal ice session. Players can isolate stride mechanics, edge control, and posture in a controlled environment — then take those corrections directly onto the ice.
Developed over 20+ years by AK Hockey, the same system trusted by NHL players from the Chicago Blackhawks, Dallas Stars, and beyond.

4-Camera Live Analysis
See exactly what you're doing — and fix it in real time.
Front View
Evaluates arm swing, shoulder alignment, and forward lean — the mechanics most players never see.
Rear View
Captures hip drive, extension angle, and push-off power. Where most skating inefficiencies hide.
Side View
Shows stride length, knee bend depth, and blade contact — the foundation of skating speed.

All four feeds are projected live on a screen in front of the skater. Players can see their mechanics in real time while they skate — making corrections immediate, not theoretical.
Training Sessions
Two formats. Both built for focused, intentional development.
Private Skatemill Session
$100 / 45 min
One-on-one instruction with full 4-camera analysis. Your session is built around your mechanics — what needs to be fixed, how to fix it, and how to carry it onto the ice. All ages and skill levels, youth through professional.
- —4-camera live feedback projected on screen
- —Individual technique corrections
- —Forward & backward skating
- —Incline work for power and conditioning
- —All ages and skill levels
Triple Threat Group Training
$65 / 60 min
Max 6 players split into pairs and rotated through three stations: the Skatemill, the synthetic ice shooting lane, and stickhandling. Every player gets quality reps at every station — no standing around.
- —Maximum 6 players per session
- —3 stations: Skatemill, shooting lane, stickhandling
- —Pairs rotate every 20 minutes
- —Full-skill off-ice session
- —Individual attention at each station
- —Great for linemates or training partners
Why Treadmill Training Works
Research-backed. Proven at the professional level.
High-Rep Mechanics Training
The treadmill allows far more repetitions of correct movement than a standard ice session. Muscle memory builds through volume — and here, every rep is monitored and corrected.
Immediate Visual Feedback
Research shows technique corrections stick faster when athletes can see the flaw in real time. The 4-camera system makes that possible on every stride.
Controlled Environment
Players isolate specific mechanics without the distractions and variables of a full ice session. What's fixed here transfers directly onto the ice.
What NHL Players Are Saying
The AK Hockey system. Trusted at every level of the game.

“Technique is definitely a huge part of skating, if you're not doing the right things you won't be getting any faster. Learning to perfect your technique is a big part of becoming a better skater and being on the Skatemill is a great way to translate skills learned onto the ice.”
Connor Bedard
C | Chicago Blackhawks | #1 NHL Draft Pick
“I've been very fortunate to have worked with so many coaches and trainers over the years but AKHockey has provided me with first class training and I continue to work with them to this day because of it. AKHockey has coached me for a while now and has pushed me to the next level time and time again.”
Logan Stankoven
C | Dallas Stars
“AK's attention to detail, the focus on technique, and commitment to excellence showed immediate results.”
Scott Niedermayer
D | Former Captain & Stanley Cup Champion
